New OSHA video part of upcoming fall protection ‘stand-down’

Washington – OSHA has released a video to help promote its National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction campaign, set for May 4-15.

The 53-second video reminds workers that falls are the No. 1 cause of construction fatalities, accounting for more than 3,500 deaths in the past decade. OSHA also encourages workers in all industries to get involved by visiting osha.gov and promoting the cause through social media (#StandDown4Safety). Organizations may conduct a stand-down by taking a break for a voluntary event such as a toolbox talk, a safety equipment inspection or a conversation about hazards specific to a job.

Nearly a dozen organizations, including the National Safety Council, are partnering with OSHA on the campaign. Participants in last year’s event included construction companies, residential construction contractors, sub- and independent contractors, unions, safety equipment manufacturers, general industry employers, and other government agencies.
